Royal AM v Cape Town City

Royal AM knocked City out of the Nedbank Cup after a nail-biting penalty shootout. However, City still retains the upper hand when it comes to league matches. They’ve won two of the three fixtures, but like the Cup meeting, all of them have been tight, with both teams finding the net always. A 1-1 draw in April 2021 is the sole stalemate, with a pair of 2-1 wins for City either side. The odds are close with the hosts given a 40% chance of victory compared to 34% for the visitors, but at 3/1 a bet on both teams to score Over 2.5 goals is quite appealing.

Stellenbosch v Golden Arrows

wo teams level on points clash on Saturday in what may turn out to be a direct battle for 8th. The Nedbank Cup win over Sundowns is the result most remember, but Stellies have been churning out one good result after another at home for some time. Arrows, meanwhile, have never really enjoyed the Cape, with two wins in 12 games since their 2015 promotion (W2 D4 L6). It’s all about the home form here, and with Iqram Rayners and Junior Mendieta in fine form, a home result looks likely.

AmaZulu v Sekhukhune

It has not been the best season for AmaZulu. Usuthu spent 23 August at the top of the table, with some at the club making dreams of a title challenge public. Since then, they’ve won just 3 of 22 games, the fewest of all teams in the division. A home game against a newish side like Sekhukhune would normally be seen as an opportunity for some reprieve. But the visitors and Nedbank Cup finalists have won each of their last three games (all comps), and will not be pushovers.

TS Galaxy v Orlando Pirates

Pirates are turning out to be the story of the second half of the season. The Bucs have won each of their last five league games, and have lost one in 10 across all competitions. They’ve also won three on the spin away from home, something that has happened only twice in 10 years. This weekend, Jose Riveiro can become the 4th coach in Orlando Pirates’ PSL history to win six league games in a row (after Barreto in 2002, Krol in 2011 & Zinnbauer in 2020). With five goals conceded in the last three games, this could also be the best time to face an otherwise stubborn TS Galaxy defence.
